Job summary

Altek Electronics, Inc. in Torrington, CT is seeking a full-time Inspector for Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) of PCB parts and assemblies.

You will ensure conformance to IPC-A-610/J-STD workmanship standards and internal quality requirements, using magnification aids and stereo microscopes. Responsibilities include inspecting boards, identifying defects, and communicating issues for immediate correction.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma/GED.
• Previous soldering experience or training.
• J-Std or IPC-A-610 certification required, or successful completion of certification program per an agreed upon timeline.

Responsibilities

• Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of SMT paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
• Inspect populated PCBs using magnification aids and stereo-microscopes to IPC-A-610 standards.
• Identify problems in operation or components and communicate to machine operator for correction.
• Participate in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.
• Follow company manufacturing guidelines, procedures and safety rules (6S).
• Conduct in-process and final inspections on PCBs and assemblies.
• Ensure products conform to work instructions and quality standards.
• Identify and segregate nonconforming materials.
• Complete daily inspection reports documenting acceptance/rejection rates.

• Review AOI inspection for accurate, consistent detection of SMT paste, component placement and solder joint defects.
• Using magnification aids and stereo-microscopes, inspect populated printed circuit boards and identify component misplacement and solder defects to IPC-A-610 standards.
• Recognize problems in the operation process or with components and communicate those problems to machine operator for immediate correction.
• Actively participates in quality initiatives by participating in problem solving, process improvements and performance measurements.
• Responsible for understanding & following company, and or manufacturing guidelines/procedures
• Responsible for product quality as defined by internal and external customers, work instructions, specifications and procedures.
• Responsible for following established safety rules & 6S
• Conduct in process and final inspections on PCB assemblies, sub-assemblies, and finished products
• Ensure that the product conforms to work instructions, IPC or J-STD standards, and internal quality/workmanship standards
• Identify and segregate nonconforming materials
• Complete daily inspection report denoting the acceptance and/or rejection rate all items in accordance with the standards defined within job traveler
• Supports supervisors and/or operators in the resolution of quality problems
