Job summary

New Hampshire Ball Bearings, Inc. (NHBB) seeks an Inspector to ensure quality across processes and products.

You will perform dimensional inspections using optical comparators, dial indicators, surface plates and other precision tools, and you will read and interpret complex drawings and specs. You will maintain inspection records, prepare charts and reports, and communicate findings to Manufacturing and Quality teams while supporting quality improvements and adherence to procedures in a

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred (2+ years).
  • Ability to read, reference and interpret complex written and verbal instructions, following standard procedures.
  • Maintain production levels and quality standards.
  • Maintain inspection records and write rejection reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspection using mechanical and visual equipment.
  • Measure bearing assemblies and features (roundness, concentricity, perpendicularity, flatness, sphericity, surface finish, surface noise and vibration) using specialized equipment.
  • Create basic control charts, run charts, prepare charts, and histograms.
  • Read drawings, specifications, procedures, standards and instructions.
  • Write inspection rejection reports and maintain detailed inspection records.
  • Perform visual inspection of bearing assemblies and components using a microscope and the unaided eye.
  • Communicate findings with Manufacturing and Quality teams.

Job description

As an Inspector, you are responsible for ensuring the quality of processes and product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform dimensional inspection using mechanical and visual inspection equipment, such as an optical comparator, contour reader, dial indicators, inspection hand tools, surface plates, height gauges, air gauges, specialized bearing measurement equipment and gauge blocks.
  • Masure bearing assemblies and/or component features such as roundness, concentricity, perpendicularity, flatness, sphericity, surface finish, surface noise and vibration levels using specialized equipment.
  • Complete basic control charts, run charts, prepare charts, and histograms.
  • Read and understand drawings, specifications, procedures, standards and instructions.
  • Write inspection rejection reports and maintain detailed inspection records. Make recommendations regarding quality and manufacturing improvements, as needed.
  • Perform visual inspection of bearing assemblies, and/or bearing components, using microscope and the unaided eye.
  • Communicate with Manufacturing and Quality personnel, and other disciplines, as required.
Job Skills and Abilities:
  • Utilize tools, microscope and all other NHBB measuring equipment, where applicable.
  • Read, reference and interpret complex written and verbal instructions, always following established standard procedures.
  • Maintain established production levels and quality standards
  • Recognize and report any irregularities as to fits, defective parts, finishes, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship
  • Maintain necessary records; work is subject to audited inspections
Education and Experience Required:
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is preferred (2+ years).
Physical Requirements:
  • Includes being able to: stand, walk, bend, reach, grab, twist, carry, push and pull.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
