Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector in Goleta, CA seeks a Quality Inspector – Level 2 for a 9/80 onsite role. You will inspect spacecraft components, read drawings and specs, and ensure conformance using calipers, micrometers, and CMM tools.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect visually in-process and completed products using predetermined methods and specifications.
  • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on spacecraft components.
  • Use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, gages, and CMMs for inspections.
  • Decide on acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
  • Inspect and test mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft.

Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Quality Inspector – Level 2 to join our team in Goleta, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Duties
  • Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
  • Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components.
  • Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
  • This job has decision-making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
  • Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies.
  • Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
  • Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start.
  • Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria.
  • US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong Computer skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results.
  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00
  • The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
  • Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
  • Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
  • Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
  • Health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
