Job summary

Triumph Group is seeking a Quality Inspector with a strong background in aerospace manufacturing to perform a variety of inspection tasks across parts, sub-assemblies, and incoming materials. You will read blueprints, apply measurement tools, and ensure conformance to specifications and weldments.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in quality inspection within manufacturing, familiarity with AS9100, and strong communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external customers.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; AS9100 knowledge preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in quality inspection/machining in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read blueprints, apply geometry and calibration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with customer focus.

Responsibilities

  • Check parts for proper fit prior to welding and brazing.
  • Read simple blueprints and specifications.
  • Inspect parts to ensure inclusion of weldments and correct placement.
  • Use basic measuring tools to verify dimensions.
  • Inspect incoming materials meet specifications for purchased material.
  • Maintain inspection records and report defects.
  • Keep work area clean and follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Know AQL levels and inspection criteria.
  • Train other employees as needed.
  • Maintain workplace cleanliness and prevent FOD.

Scope of Job:

Performs a variety of inspection and checking duties on various parts, sub-assemblies, completed assemblies and incoming materials.

Education/Prerequisite Skills
  • Ability to read and write, interpret measurements and readings, exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and work process instructions.
  • Ability to move parts and equipment in a safe and practical manner.
  • Ability to relate to and interact appropriately with others in a team environment and a willingness to assist, educate and train others.
  • Ability to use hand tools and inspect gauges.
  • Consistently comply with all applicable safety and health rules and regulations including compliance with a respiratory protection program and hearing conservation, if applicable.
  • Must comply with FAA requirements for “safety sensitive” position.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a GED.
  • Due to our company’s position as a key supplier to the US defense industry. All employees must possess permanent authorization to work in the United States.
Duties/Essential Functions
  • Check parts for proper fit prior to being welding and brazing.
  • Must be able to read simple blueprints and specifications.
  • Check parts to insure inclusion of all specified weldments, proper placement of parts, conformity with template dimensions and dimensional adherence with blueprint sizes.
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools.
  • Inspection of incoming materials to ensure that the materials meet specifications for which the material was purchased.
  • Maintain inspection records and detect and report defective materials and questionable cases to appropriate supervision.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed or standard safety.
  • Must be knowledgeable of AQL levels and their function in inspection criteria.
  • Attention to detail, eye/hand coordination, pass vision testing.
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes (not over OSHA permissible exposure levels)
  • Ability to train other employees, as needed.
  • Must comply with FAA requirements for “safety sensitive” position.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work place and equipment, free of FOD.
Marginal Functions
  • Maintain clean an orderly work area by sweeping and dusting floors, tables equipment, etc.
  • Move parts manually and/or with appropriate handling equipment.
Qualifications
  • High School or Technical School Diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Technology a plus
  • A minimum of 5 years in quality inspection/machining (final, source and in process inspection) working in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have working knowledge of geometric tolerancing, gages, micrometers, borescopes and other measuring tools
  • Problem identification and resolution skills
  • Experience with quality management systems compliant with AS9100 and knowledgeable of AS9102 First Article Inspection Report requirements preferred
  • Ability to apply geometry and trigonometry skills to solve problems and calibrate equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong customer focus
  • Ability to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external customers
