Job summary

X-Ray Industries, an Applus+ company, is a well‑established NDT service provider in the Aerospace sector. We seek a Level 2 PT/MT Inspector in Niles, IL to set up and calibrate equipment, conduct tests, and document results per NAS 410 and internal procedures.

The role includes on‑the‑job training and guidance of Level 1 personnel, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and project specifications. US work authorization is required and NAS 410 Level 2 certification is mandatory.

Qualifications

• NAS 410 Level 2 certification is required.
• Ability to set up, calibrate, and document NDT results.
• Willingness to train Level 1 personnel.

Responsibilities

• Set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret results.
• Be familiar with scope and limitations of the test method.
• Conduct system performance checks per process standard.
• Provide guidance and supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel.
• Follow codes, standards, and contractual documents controlling methods.
• Develop work instructions from approved procedures when required.
• Have basic knowledge of related product manufacturing and inspection tech.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Certifiable to Level 2 per NAS 410 and XRI-2002 requirements.

Position Overview

The Penetrant and/or Magnetic Particle (PT/MT) Level 2 shall have the skills and knowledge to set up and calibrate equipment, to conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results in accordance with procedures approved by the Level 3 with respect to applicable codes, specifications, and standards. The level 2 shall be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the test method and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on‑the‑job (OJT) training and guidance of trainees and Level 1 personnel.

Documentation of high school diploma or GED, OJT hours, and previous certification hours required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
• Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method.
• Have the skills and knowledge to conduct systems performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
• Capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and level 1 personnel.
• Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the methods as used by X-Ray Industries.
• When specified in the written practice, be capable of developing work instructions from the approved general procedures. Such work instructions shall require final approval by a level 3 certified in the method.
• Have a basic knowledge of the relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Certifiable to Level 2 per the requirements of NAS 410 and XRI-2002, i.e., a Level 1 certification, additional hours of formal training, and additional hours of on‑the‑job experience in Radiographic Testing (RT).
