Job summary

HDR is seeking an Inspector to conduct observations and monitor progress on civil infrastructure projects across Orange, Ulster, and Dutchess Counties in New York. You will coordinate material sampling, testing, and reporting, under supervision, while contributing to HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, MS Office proficiency, and the ability to work both independently and in a team. Visa sponsorship is not available.

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads and bridges.
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects.
  • Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing.
  • Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

This position covers Orange, Ulster, and Dutchess Counties in New York.

In the role of Inspector, we'll count on you to:

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads and bridges
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects
  • Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including concrete slump and air testing, casting concrete test cylinders, and performing in-place soil compaction testing
  • Receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical school or Associate degree
  • Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • NYSDOT or NYSTA experience
