Job summary

Lockheed Martin - Space Systems in Rockville, MD is seeking an Inspector to join the Receiving Inspection team on a 12‑month contract. Responsibilities include inspecting purchased parts and components, ensuring conformance to specifications, and supporting NPI and prototype builds in Severn operations.

The role requires 5+ years QA in Receiving Inspection, ability to read engineering drawings, AS9100 knowledge, and ERP/MRP proficiency.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain an Active DOD Secret Clearance; requires U.S. Citizenship.
• High school diploma in any STEM major should work.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• 5+ years Quality Assurance experience in a Receiving Inspection environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and blueprints.
• Good understanding of AS9100 standard and support with internal & external audits as required.
• Proficiency in using precision measurement equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
• High level of accuracy in identifying defects and maintaining records.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
• 2 - 4 years of experience in Shipping/Receiving
• 1 - 2 years of experience in Supplier Quality
• 2 - 4 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control
• 4 - 6 years of experience in Quality Systems

Responsibilities

• Inspects purchased parts & materials for conformance to specifications.
• Examines electronic components like bare boards, COTS items and, items fabricated to inhouse drawings for defects in materials, work, and damage occurring in transit, inspects and measures items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment, and functional operation, according to prints, parts manuals, company standards, and other specifications
• Reviews supplier certifications, packing slips test reports to insure compliance with Lockheed Martin flow down requirements
• Identify, label, and document defective, damaged, or non-conforming materials.
• Provide direct Quality Assurance ownership and oversite of Receiving Inspection labs.
• Participate in regular MRBs (material review board) to ensure nonconforming material/process is appropriately handled.

This is a challenging and rewarding position with a mission to support the manufacturing of air and space-based RF systems in our Severn Operations of Lockheed Martin. This opportunity involves working closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing team to build prototypes, support New Product Integration (NPI) and productions builds.
