Position Summary:

Based in Fremont, CA the Inspector will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Quality Manager to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed.

Level C:

Typically 0 - 24 months of laboratory experience. Performs work with guidance while developing proficiency in laboratory operations.

  • Developing working knowledge of testing equipment, terminology, materials, heat-treating processes, and applicable technical requirements.

  • Able to perform routine assignments and read/interpret basic blueprints and specifications with guidance as needed.

  • Expected to build technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work increasingly independently.

Level B:

Typically 2 - 3 years of laboratory experience. Fully proficient in routine laboratory activities and able to work independently.

  • Working knowledge of testing equipment, terminology, commercial and aerospace materials, heat-treating processes, and applicable technical requirements.

  • Independently performs routine and moderately complex assignments and reads/interprets blueprints and specifications.

  • Identifies and troubleshoots routine issues, collaborates effectively across departments, and may provide guidance to less-experienced employees.

Level A:

Typically3 – 5+ years of laboratory experience, with demonstrated advanced technical proficiency. Independently handles complex work and serves as a technical resource to others.

  • Advanced knowledge of testing equipment, methods, commercial and aerospace materials, heat-treating processes, and applicable technical requirements.

  • Independently performs complex assignments, interprets blueprints and specifications, and troubleshoots non-routine technical issues.

  • Serves as a technical resource, mentors/trains less-experienced employees, and contributes to laboratory process and quality improvements.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism.

This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.

Qualifications:

This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.

Education – High school diploma or equivalent

Must have working knowledge of all testing equipment and terminology

Must have general knowledge of commercial and aerospace materials and heat treating equipment

Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, be detail oriented and possess manual dexterity

May be required to work overtime or any shift, including weekends

Must have or be able to obtain and maintain forklift operator certification

Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and communicate the English language

Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required

Physical & Mental Demands:

Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment

Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions

Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.

Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions

Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing

Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.

Ability to hear in person and via phone

The hourly pay range for this position is $24.00 – $32.00per hour. Starting pay is determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.
