Sampson County is seeking a professional planner to provide planning services and conduct research for current and long-range projects. The role includes supervisory and collaborative duties, requiring strong interpersonal skills and public relations ability.
Candidate should have knowledge of county ordinances, code enforcement, GIS systems, and familiarity with deeds, maps and legal descriptions, plus strong research, data analysis, and presentation abilities.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional planning services and conduct research to support current and long-range projects. Work is performed independently and includes supervisory and collaborative responsibilities requiring strong interpersonal and public relation skills. Candidates should possess a comprehensive knowledge of County ordinances, code enforcement, public sector planning and GIS systems; have working familiarity with deeds, maps and legal descriptions; and demonstrate proficiency with research, data analysis, effective oral and written communications, and presentation techniques.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, geography, public administration, community development or a related field is required. Technical and administrative work in a local government planning office, ACIP certification, and 3-5 years applicable experience is preferred, OR a directly related combination of education and experience.
