Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) is seeking an Inspections Advisor to lead infrared inspections, data analytics, and complex coordination across contractors and internal teams. Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience in energy delivery and distribution.
  • Experience supporting electric utility distribution or transmission inspection, maintenance, reliability, wildfire mitigation, or compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and executes contracts and agreements in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Obtains permits and easements for facilities in accordance with regulatory guidance.

The Inspections Advisor plays a critical role in advancing grid reliability, wildfire mitigation, and public safety through the planning and execution of infrared and corona inspection programs across SCE’s distribution and transmission assets. This position partners closely with contractors, Air Operations, engineering, grid operations, and field teams to coordinate complex inspection activities, validate deliverables, resolve issues, and ensure audit-ready documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees and executes contracts and agreements in compliance with administrative instructions and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures that permits and easements for facilities are obtained in accordance with all relevant city, county, and additional agencies.
  • Develops and implements data management practices to sustain model integrity.
  • Directs and coordinates transmission and distribution activities that provide energy services to customers, leading outage management, facility maintenance and capital improvements.
  • Obtains management approval for on-going projects and conducts tracking, analysis and resolution of project cost, scope, resource and schedule issues, ensuring commitment on detailed work plans, including contingency and communication plans.
  • Retrieves, analyzes and summarizes business, operations, customer and economic data in order to develop business intelligence, optimize effectiveness and predict business outcomes.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns and prepares ongoing reports and data visualizations (e.g., charts, dashboards, heat maps) in order to support business decisions.
  • Monitors budget variances on a regular basis and prepares and monitors long term budget forecasts.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience in energy delivery and distribution.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting electric utility distribution or transmission inspection, maintenance, reliability, wildfire mitigation, or compliance programs.
  • Working knowledge of infrared thermography, corona inspection methods, thermal anomaly identification, severity classification, and corrective action tracking.
  • Experience coordinating field execution with contractors, Air Operations, grid operations, engineering, and operations teams in a complex utility environment.
  • Strong data validation, reporting, and documentation skills, including experience preparing audit-ready records, regulatory inputs, program summaries, or performance reports.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, resolve schedule or deliverable issues, and drive accountability with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to lead meetings, align priorities, and clearly communicate risks, decisions, and next steps.
  • Experience using mapping, work management, reporting, or data visualization tools to support inspection planning, tracking, analysis, and program performance.
  • Experience with SCE systems such as SAP and GIS
Additional Information
  • This position’s work mode ishybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.
