Job summary

Williams International in Utah is seeking an Inspection Technician to join our precision manufacturing team. The role focuses on inspection of processes, parts, and activities, using manual measuring tools, CMM programming and operation, UT inspection, and First Article Inspections.

The successful candidate will read blueprints, ensure parts meet specifications, document results, and maintain equipment. Must lift up to 50 lbs, push 60 lbs, and be a U.S. citizen able to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED with at least 1 year of related inspection experience.
  • Experience with CMM programming and First Article inspections.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and blueprints required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs; assist required for heavier loads; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections for first piece, NC program tape proofs and TMI inspections.
  • Writes, updates and maintains CMM inspection programs for in-process operations.
  • Inspects and tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
  • Maintains accurate and reliable documentation.
  • Performs inspection and testing activities to ensure parts meet manufacturing standards and blueprint specs.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks, and other irregularities from machined parts to meet blueprints and tolerances.
  • Maintain proper identification of parts and ensure reliable records.

The Opportunity

Williams International has an exciting opportunity for an Inspection Technician to join our team.

The Inspection Technician will have responsibility for the inspection of all types of processes, parts, and activities. These duties will require the use of manual measuring equipment, programming and operation of a coordinate measuring machine (CMM), UT Inspection, and completion of First Article Inspections. He/she will participate in inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure that parts are manufactured in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

Additionally, the Inspection Technician will:

  • Performs inspections for first piece, NC program tape proofs and TMI inspections.
  • Write, update and maintain CMM inspection programs for in-process operations.
  • Manufacture and/or tests parts according to engineering and customer standards and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable documentation.
  • Perform inspection and/or testing related activities to ensure that parts are manufactured in accordance with manufacturing standards and blueprint specifications. Visually inspects parts to ensure they are free of burrs or damaged surfaces.
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, tool marks and other irregularities from machined parts to ensure they are in accordance with engineering blueprints, and tolerance requirements.
  • Maintain proper identification of parts per planning specifications and ensure that accurate and reliable records and documentation are maintained.
  • Communicate change of shift requirements to ensure team members receive accurate and reliable information and documentation.
  • Perform routine maintenance of machines and equipment operated.
  • Clean, organize and maintain cellular manufacturing work area in accordance with established standards.
Qualifications

High School or GED and a minimum of one-year of directly related experience in CMM and/or First Article inspections, tool proofs, and GD&T. Knowledge of Metrologic CMM software is preferred. Relevant CMM software experience is a must. Reads, understands and correctly interprets blueprints.

Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. from floor to waist.

(Note – must use a lift assist or assistance from other individual(s) when lifting in excess of 50 lbs.)

  • Must be capable of pushing or pulling a weight of 60 lbs.
  • Must have grip strength of at least 50 lbs.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance, if needed.
