Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Spokane, WA seeks an Inspection Tech II to advance manufacturing quality through precise dimensional inspections, GD&T interpretation, and First Article Inspections (FAI).

You will perform visual and in-process inspections, document nonconformances in MES, review paperwork, and support QA reporting using Word, Excel, and SharePoint. 4 on/4 off shifts, 12-hour days, onsite.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1+ year interpreting mechanical drawings and GD&T.
  • 1+ year using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct dimensional inspections with hand gauges (calipers, micrometers).
  • Perform visual inspections per workmanship standards.
  • Identify nonconforming materials and document in MES.
  • Apply GD&T knowledge to verify blueprint requirements.
  • Execute AS9102 FAI with accuracy.

We are seeking an Inspection Tech II to join our team to identify statistical methods that improve manufacturing quality and to provide data for establishing quality standards through testing methods and sampling.

What You Will Do
  • Conduct precise dimensional inspections using hand gauges, including calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools.
  • Perform visual inspections in accordance with established workmanship standards.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming materials and accurately document them within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to interpret and verify blueprint requirements.
  • Execute AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI) with thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Perform in-process inspections and product audits to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Inspect incoming materials for compliance with specifications and requirements.
  • Conduct outgoing product inspections by interpreting blueprints, procedures, data, and specifications to ensure quality.
  • Review and verify paperwork and certifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, to support documentation and reporting tasks.
Shift Structure
  • 4 on/ 4 off schedule
  • 12-hour shifts: 6:00A – 6:00P
Qualifications You Must Have
  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., G.E.D.) or vocational/technical education in a related discipline.
  • At least 1 year of experience interpreting and working from detailed mechanical drawings and blueprints, including geometric tolerances, dimensions, and part features.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience applying shop math—geometry, algebra, and related calculations—in a manufacturing or inspection environment.
  • At least 1 year of hands‑on experience using precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other standard hand‑measuring instruments.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Hands-on experience with AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Proficiency in verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with employees and management at all levels.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programming and operation.
  • Basic understanding of the AS9100 Quality Management System standards.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques, tools, and principles, as well as processes involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and models.
  • General computer proficiency, including email, internet usage, and basic Microsoft Office applications.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is $38,060K/yr - $71,553K/yr USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
