Job summary

City of La Porte is seeking an Inspection Service Technician to support the Inspection Services Division. This full‑time position handles permits, plans, zoning and nuisance violations, working with the public and staff to ensure timely processing.

The role requires a Texas driver’s license and experience in administrative/technical public service, with the ICC Permit Technician preference noted. Hearing and coordination with multiple teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Three years of increasingly responsible administrative and/or technical experience in public service.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Texas Driver's License; ICC Permit Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive and record permits, plans, and applications in the Permit Tracking Log.
• Forward documents to appropriate staff for handling and fees.
• Maintain files for court review and code enforcement.
• Assist in plan review for basic permits and zoning.
• Provide public with information on zoning, inspections, and ordinances.
• Serve as primary contact with the public for the Inspection Services Division.
