Job summary

Five Star Management is seeking a Quality Inspector for our Houston, TX plant to support the Inspack packaging and quality control processes. The role requires attention to detail, safe work practices, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include inspecting products, recording results, reporting issues, and ensuring packaging and safety procedures are followed. Candidates should have basic math skills and be able to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions.
  • Basic math and measurement skills required.
  • Familiarity with quality systems (GMP/FSSC 22000/HACCP) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all Safety, Food Safety and Quality parameters are adhered to throughout the plant.
  • Immediately report incidents and unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Perform visual and physical inspections to verify product quality against design specifications.
  • Follow inspection and packaging procedures as per work instructions.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections and defects.
  • Ensure defective/non-conforming products are properly tagged.
  • Monitor production line operations and adjust as needed to maintain quality.
  • Communicate findings to operators to address quality issues per procedures.
  • Inspect and pack on-hold material and complete finished bag inspection reports when machines are off.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and comply with safety regulations.

The Inspack plays a vital role in our QS Department and the production process by ensuring that the bags are properly packaged, verified with high quality standards, and prepared for distribution. This position requires attention to detail, good aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


DESCRIPTION


  • Ensure all parameters of Safety, Food Safety and Quality are being adhered to and maintained throughout the plant.

  • Immediately report to supervisor any incident and unsafe condition.

  • Perform visual and physical inspections to verify that the products meet design specifications and quality standards.

  • Follow the inspection and packaging procedures according to the work instructions.

  • Maintain detailed records of inspection, including any defects found or other non-conformities.

  • Ensure that defective or non-conforming products are properly tagged.

  • Monitor production line operations and adjust as needed to maintain efficiency and quality standards.

  • Communicate findings to the operator to address quality issues, ensuring compliance with established procedures.

  • Inspect and pack on hold material and fill out the finished bag inspection report while the assigned machine is off.

  • Ensure that all inspections and procedures adhere to safety regulations and quality control standards.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

  • Conduct other duties as assigned by management.


COMPETENCIES

  • High School diploma or equivalent.


EXPERIENCE


  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Preferred experience in operating machinery on a production line will be a plus.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to interpret instructions effectively.

  • Ability of repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and carrying.


WORKING CONDITIONS


  • Primarily located on the manufacturing floor, involving exposure to loud noise, machinery, high temperatures, and chemicals.

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
