Base pay range

$21.00/hr - $23.00/hr

Clean Harbors in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Insite Chemist to join our safety conscious team. This person would be responsible for assisting in the collection, identification, and proper packaging and/or lab packing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste at our client site in Milwaukee, WI.

  • This position is NOT a laboratory-based position
  • Valid Driver's License required
  • Monday through Friday schedule, start time 5:45 am to 1:45 pm
  • Very physical, with walking the majority of the day, as well as lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Pickup at hospitals, health centers and clinics across the metro area.
  • Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restrictions notifications.
  • Identify unknown laboratory chemicals when they are encountered.
  • Perform inspections of staging, accumulating and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance.
  • Inspect storage area for leaks or spills.
  • Inspect drums for compliance with labeling regulations.
  • Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Prepare all necessary tracking paperwork.
  • Utilize waste management software to efficiently and accurately manage waste program.
  • Assign proper waste codes to all materials that are designated for disposal.
  • Maintain and manage waste profile data.
  • Evaluate specialty waste materials such as Pharmaceuticals, and batteries determining disposal options.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Driver's License required;
  • Science background is preferred;
  • Lab Pack experience is preferred;
  • 40 Hour OSHA, RCRA, and DOT preferred;
  • Attention to detail, able to take and follow direction, and to perform multiple tasks;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to interface with customers.
