Inside Sales Representative
Location:Portland, ME (100% Onsite to start; hybrid after 2 weeks of training)
Schedule:Full-time, 40 hours/week (slightly flexible schedule)
Pay:$24–$29 per hour
Our client is seeking an Inside Sales Representative to join our team and help prospective members understand their healthcare coverage options, navigate the enrollment process, and make informed decisions. This position is highly customer-focused and combines consultative sales, relationship building, follow-up, and administrative responsibilities.Health & Life insurance license is required
What You’ll Do
- Connect with prospective and eligible members by phone, email, and in-person appointments to explain available health plan options and identify the best fit for their needs.
- Guide prospects through the enrollment process, answer questions, provide clear and accurate plan information, and maintain consistent follow-up throughout the sales cycle.
- Build strong, professional relationships with prospective members, brokers, and internal teams while delivering a high level of service throughout every interaction.
- Manage and maintain an active pipeline of sales opportunities, ensuring prospects receive timely outreach and follow-up.
- Accurately document sales activity, customer interactions, enrollments, and other required information within internal systems and databases.
- Complete required administrative and operational tasks associated with the sales and enrollment process.
- Work toward established individual performance goals, including sales volume, conversion rates, activity levels, follow-up, and documentation accuracy.
- Stay informed about market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity and share relevant insights that may help shape future marketing and product strategies.
- Participate in team initiatives, process improvement efforts, and special projects as needed.
- Support the onboarding and development of new and temporary members of the sales team by sharing knowledge, best practices, and guidance.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the Medicare organization and other departments to support overall business objectives.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
- Health & Life insurance license is required
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college or other post-secondary education is a plus.
- At least 2 years of sales and/or customer service experience.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly over the phone.
- A consultative approach to sales with the ability to understand customer needs and clearly explain products and services.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, follow-ups, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where performance goals and productivity expectations are important.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new software and technology platforms.
- Experience working with CRM, sales tracking, call management, or similar systems is helpful.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, attention to detail, and strong follow-through.
- Professional, positive, and customer-focused approach in all interactions.
