Job summary

United Rentals, Inc. is seeking an Inside Sales Rep to support branch revenue through rental and sales activities, customer relations, and telemarketing. You’ll educate customers on equipment usage and safety, and manage contracts and invoicing within our system.

The role requires strong communication, sales experience, and the ability to size and quote large projects across industrial applications. A valid driver’s license is required for this safety-sensitive position.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong customer service orientation and sales experience/skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word and Excel).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Engineering aptitude to size, quote and maintain large projects.

Responsibilities

• Establish understanding of rental business for specialty products and services.
• Establish new rental and sales accounts via telemarketing and call-ins.
• Process rental quotations, reservations, contracts and invoices.
• Educate customers on equipment usage and safety procedures.
• Ensure accuracy of contract information in the branch system.
• Coordinate daily equipment pickups and returns and track inventory.

Responsible for a variety of branch functions, including in-branch equipment rentals, customer relations, telemarketing, and collections. Your primary responsibility is to proactively increase revenue for the branch by renting equipment, selling equipment, advising the manager of product and service needs, and by providing exceptional customer service.What you'll do:Establish an understanding of the rental business as it pertains to specialty engineered rental products and services, including silenced diesel generators, large diesel, electric and hydraulic pumps, air-cooled chillers, air-conditioning, electric heat, desiccant dehumidification, load banks and electrical distribution.Establish new rental and sales accounts through telemarketing and by serving call-in customers.Process rental quotations, reservations, contracts and invoices in compliance with company policies and procedures.Educate customers on proper equipment usage and safety procedures.Ensure the accuracy of all contract-related information entered into the branch’scomputer system.Coordinate and track daily equipment pickups and returns.Run all reports necessary to monitor equipment and facilitate smooth operations.Coordinate with all inside and outside branch employees to deliver customer satisfaction.Maintain accurate inventory records of branch assets.Requirements:Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education (Bachelor's degree preferred)Strong customer service orientation and sales experience/skillsProficiency with MS Office (Word and Excel)Strong verbal and written communication skillsEngineering aptitude: ability to properly size, quote, install and maintain large projects that may range from critical sewer by-pass, industrial process cooling, construction and water damage drying, multi-level power distribution at various voltages and large scale climate control projectsValid driver's license with acceptable driving recordThis position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.Why join us?We don’t just “talk the talk!” We’re an award-winning company (recently named a Glassdoor Best Place to Work in 2026) that truly cares about our people - That’s why we offer best-in-class benefits and perks that will support you and your family.
