Job description

Inpatient Therapists Needed

To provide therapeutic treatment services to patients, conduct complete psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, individual, family, and group counseling, and timely and appropriate discharge planning/case management based on known or anticipated needs. Participate actively in patient care in a multi-disciplinary setting with early adult to late adult age patients. Plan treatment to alleviate psychiatric symptoms and functional impairment.

  • Identify, assess, counsel and effectively intervene with medically and psychosocially complex patients, understanding complex dynamics related to the clinical situation.
  • Use crisis intervention, psychosocial support, brief goal‑directed therapy, group therapy, and other therapeutic methods appropriate to the situation.
  • Complete psychosocial assessments that include social, economic, cultural, age‑related, behavioral factors, as well as history of child, elder or domestic abuse, prior psychiatric or substance abuse treatment, family and social support systems, and other available resources.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, patients, families, and community resources to develop and implement an individualized plan of care.
  • Monitor and evaluate the plan of care throughout the hospital stay, reassessing as status changes.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local assistance programs and community resources that affect patient needs.
  • Access social systems by providing resource‑specific information, initiating contact with resources, and facilitating families’ acceptance of referrals.
  • Educate and advocate for patients and families to make informed decisions regarding medical care, discharge planning, advance directives, and end‑of‑life care, including participation in the guardianship process when appropriate.
  • Understand reimbursement systems, educate patients and families on payer requirements and coverage for post‑acute care services, and advocate to obtain authorizations for continued care.
  • Conduct psychotherapy groups based on CBT, DBT, and trauma models.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and appropriate documentation of all social work interventions in the medical record per regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Maintain professional practice and confidentiality for all patient care.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another behavioral health field.
  • Current Texas State License (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, LPC‑Associate).
  • Experience working in a mental health clinic or other behavioral health setting.
  • Knowledge of evidence‑based practices used in clinical interventions.
  • Experience in assessments and treatment of different age groups.
  • Preferably experience working with adolescents and adults.
