Job summary

Tufts Medical Center is seeking an Inpatient Physical Therapist II - Per Diem (Weekends/Weekdays) to evaluate, develop, and implement treatment programs for patients with complex medical conditions. You'll work across wards with a multidisciplinary team to provide care that supports safe discharge and functional recovery.

The role emphasizes clinical reasoning, autonomy, and professional collaboration with families and referring physicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Graduation from an approved school of Physical Therapy; PT license; BLS certification; 1 year experience preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to assess, re-assess and treat varied diagnoses with professional competency.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, physicians and staff and maintain documentation.
• Strong documentation, time management and teamwork to support patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, re-assesses & treats a variety of diagnoses with a high degree of professional competency & efficiency to ensure quality patient care; Able to evaluate & treat pediatric, adult and geriatric populations.
• Assesses & re-assesses patient pain and develops appropriate treatment plans.
• Interacts with patient/family and involves them in the plan of care; develops a teaching plan.
• Sets realistic short and long term goals and plan of care related to physical therapy needs across systems.
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and other groups.
• Supervises and educates students and evaluates performance.
• Maintains timely documentation for all patients treated to promote communication and proper reimbursement.
• Contributes to department operations; adheres to billing guidelines and departmental procedures.
• Prepares department for Joint Commission surveys and participates in CQI activities.
• Attends rounds, team meetings and case conferences; maintains continuing education.
• Meets attendance and punctuality requirements; ensures coverage and quality service.
• Follows safety procedures and works with interdisciplinary team to promote discharge planning.
