Job summary

Heritage Oaks Hospital, part of the UHS Family of Providers, is seeking a licensed Registered Nurse to deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care in an inpatient behavioral health setting in northern Sacramento. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for adolescents to seniors with acute and chronic conditions.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, crisis management, and the ability to maintain a safe recovery-oriented milieu.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum three years of psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• Competence in assessment, crisis intervention, therapeutic communication, and milieu management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct environmental rounds, safety checks, and contraband assessments.
• Identify changes in patient condition and intervene promptly.
• Implement deescalation, crisis intervention, limit-setting, and psychotherapeutic communication.
• Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies with code response and rapid assessment.
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu for patients with acute and chronic psychiatric conditions.
• Manage patient assignments per staffing standards, adjusted for acuity.
• Document interventions and progress toward treatment goals.
• Support discharge planning by identifying needs and follow-up services.
