Qualifications

• One year above high school with related NA courses.
• Completion of an intensive occupation-related course for nursing assistants may meet requirements.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English per VA Handbook standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care as directed and support treatment plans.
• Assist with patient admission, unit orientation and contraband checks.
• Take vital signs, obtain specimens, and support physicians with tests.
• Encourage patient participation and self-care.
• Report changes in patient condition to supervisor promptly.
• Maintain safe environment and assist with ongoing care.
