Job summary

Qualifications

• MD or DO required.
• Residency completion required.
• Fellowship completion if specialty appropriate.
• Medical license to practice.
• Board certification in relevant specialty.
• Hospital credentials required (license, privileges).
• Unrestricted DEA number.
• Certificates for area of practice (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including history, exams and interpretation of tests to determine treatment plans for hospitalized patients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with input from specialists.
• Provide inpatient care with rounds, monitor progress and adjust care as needed.
• Prescribe medications and therapies per established protocols.
• Perform procedures within area of expertise.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests to aid diagnosis and monitor treatment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and self-care.
• Document medical records accurately per legal and ethical standards.
• Participate in hospital committees and case discussions to improve care quality.
