The Phlebotomist I works in a designated area, providing specimen collection, registration, and processing services to patients at the main hospital, outpatient lab stations, and off-site facilities and clinics. The role involves high-volume work, with 50% of duties requiring computer use to meet targets. The position also supports clerical tasks within the Pathology Department and other duties as assigned.
Minimum: High school diploma.
Preferred: Phlebotomy Training or Phlebotomy Technical School.
Minimum: Valid Michigan driver’s license.
Preferred: ASCP certification for Phlebotomy (must obtain within one year of hire).
Preferred: Six months of phlebotomy experience in a healthcare setting.
Minimum: Strong interpersonal and clerical skills; typing at least 40 wpm.
Preferred: Computer skills and proficiency in word processing.
Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows-based systems, including email, e-learning, intranet, and navigation. Ability to use other required software. Competency will be assessed during the hiring process.
Sitting for extended periods; mobility; bending, stooping, reaching overhead; occasional lifting and carrying; frequent keyboard and phone use.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
