Job summary

Falmouth Hospital Association in Massachusetts seeks an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists by performing technical tasks and preparing medications for patient care units.

The role requires MA Pharmacy Technician registration and PTCB certification or equivalent, with one year of recent experience (three years preferred). 64PP shifts, rotating days/evenings, 32 hours per week, hourly pay range shown.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and communicate in English.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB certification or equivalent certification.
• One year recent experience as a Pharmacy Technician; 3 years preferred.
• Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Review and process departmental order requests.
• Prepare medications for distribution to the patient care units.
• Distribute medications to the patient care units.
• Order medications from various suppliers.
• Prepare parenteral products.
• Maintain medication inventory; place orders, check expiration dates, process returns.
• Train and orient new pharmacy support personnel.
• Billing and other duties that do not require a pharmacist.
• Maintain appropriate records and regulatory documentation.
• Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers.
• Answer phones and direct medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist.
• Provide service excellence to patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Maintain department cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Obtain patient medication orders for reconciliation duties to input into MAR.
• Prepare chemotherapy and dosage calculation checks.

• Trains and orients new pharmacy support personnel.
• Billing and other pharmacy duties that do not require a pharmacist.
• Maintains appropriate records and regulatory documentation.
• Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers/packaging.
• Answers telephone directing phone calls appropriately and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist.
• Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and coworkers.
• Maintains cleanliness of the department
• Performs other work related duties as assigned.

Additional Inpatient Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician Duties And Responsibilities

• Obtains patient medication orders for medication reconciliation duties to input into MAR.
• Prepares chemotherapy and dosage calculation checks.

Qualifications

Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, National Certification – Grade FHS7A, Job Code 00024

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent certification.
• One-year recent experience (within the past 3 years) as a Pharmacy Technician; 3 years preferred, OR PTCB certification or equivalent certification as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Duties require very good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Schedule Details:

64PP (32hrs per week), Rotating Days/Eves, 7a-3p, may also cover 8a-4p, 10a-6p, 12p-8p, 2p-10p, Rotating Weekends and Holidays
