Job summary

Cayuga Health System is hiring a Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient for the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, NY. This full-time position supports pharmacists, prepares sterile and non-sterile medications, and maintains drug inventory and patient records.

The role requires NY licensure by the introductory period and may include CSPT or CPhT-Adv preference. Onsite work with day/evening shifts, eligible for full benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years pharmacy technician experience preferred, but not required.
• Must attain New York State licensure for Registered Pharmacy Technicians within the introductory period.
• CSPT or Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Procures and distributes medications per physician or pharmacist requests according to policies.
• Replenishes medications in automated dispensing units and emergency containers; manages stock and reports.
• Prepares IV admixtures and other sterile preparations following safe techniques.
• Complies with sterile compounding regulations and practices.
• Restocks medication and IV room areas timely and accurately.
• Repackages bulk medications into unit-dose packages per procedures.
• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking, and storing medications and supplies.
• Completes and documents monthly inspections of storage areas and replaces outdated items.
• Maintains logs, records, pricing updates, and filings.
• Keeps the pharmacy neat and equipment clean; performs IV room terminal cleans.
