Job summary

USPI Arizona Specialty Hospital in Phoenix is hiring a Certified Pharmacy Technician for the Pharmacy department. You will support the hospital needs, restock anesthesia supplies, assist in compounding sterile products, and maintain accurate medication histories under pharmacist supervision.

Requirements include CPhT with Arizona Board registration, inpatient hospital experience, strong organization, communication and computer skills, and ability to interpret orders and calculate dosages.

Qualifications

• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and registered with the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum 1 year inpatient hospital experience; sterile product compounding preferred.
• Good organizational, problem solving and computer skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts.
• Knowledge of software, particularly medication management information system software, Microsoft applications and Pyxis systems.
• Understands basic pharmaceutical nomenclature and common medical terminology.
• Mathematical ability to calculate dosages and amounts required.
• Ability to interpret physician orders and dosage directions and units.
• Working knowledge of Pharmacy References; adheres to DEA and Arizona Board rules.
• Documentation of patient medication history into electronic health records per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assists and supports the Pharmacy Department in providing correct drugs or IV solutions.
• Restocks anesthesia drug boxes and floor stock in OR, PACU, Pre-op and PSU; unit dose packaging.
• Handles charging, receiving and stocking within the pharmacy; assists in compounding sterile products.
• Maintains records and assists in related activities as directed by Pharmacy leadership.
• Obtains complete medication history under pharmacist supervision.
