Vail Health Hospital in Vail, Colorado is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support inpatient operations, including medication dispensing, Pyxis management, and stocking inventory. The role emphasizes accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

• State of Colorado Pharmacy Technician Provisional Certification (PHATP) required.
• Must have working knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Must be able to obtain computer skills within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders accurately and timely, including Pyxis Medstations.
• Prepare IV admixtures or sterile preparations per policy.
• Order drugs and supplies and manage stock to maintain inventory levels.
• Repackage medications into unit doses with bar-code labels as needed.
• Monitor controlled medications; resolve discrepancies with Pyxis promptly.
• Answer phones, respond to service requests from departments, and document activities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Support the inpatient pharmacy in the daily operations, including handling phone calls, aiding in dispensing of medications, filling dispensing machines, and stocking inventory.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

1. Accurately and in a timely manner fill medication orders, including Pyxis Medstations. This involves ensuring proper storage and security. Empty return and waste bins according to policy.
2. Accurately prepare IV admixtures or other sterile preparations as per policy.
3. Take a leadership role in ordering drugs and supplies and with the receiving, storing, and rotating of stock to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
4. Repackage/pre-package medications into unit dose packages following policies. This includes creating bar-code labels as needed.
5. Monitor the routine inventory control of all controlled medications in the C-II safe complying with all regulatory and compliance agencies. Resolve Pyxis discrepancies in a timely manner.
6. Answer phones and interact with callers. Respond to service requests by other departments in a respectful and timely manner.
7. Maintain competencies by attending departmental training opportunities and completing assignments in computer based learning programs.
8. Complete inter-departmental billing by the 5th of each month and submit to Accounting.
9. Schedule technician personnel to cover required shifts monthly.
10. Submit approved invoices to accounting for payment.
11. Role models the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
12. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:

$22 — $28.39 USD
