Job summary

Valley Medical Center & Clinics is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II for the Inpatient Pharmacy on the day shift to support pharmacists in medication preparation and distribution across hospital units, including IV admixture and unit-dose packaging. The role requires state licensure and PTCB certification as applicable, with strong attention to regulatory compliance and patient safety.

Experience in inpatient hospital pharmacy and Pyxis systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must hold a Pharmacy Technician credential in the State of Washington and be in good standing as of hire date.
• National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or equivalent preferred. Certification required for Tech II classification.
• Minimum 2-3 Years Pharmacy Technician Experience Preferred.
• Inpatient hospital pharmacy experience including IV admixture, unit dose preparation, Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets, and electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for drug distribution services in inpatient areas including infusion center.
• Maintain knowledge of medications including newly approved drugs.
• Maintain competency with regulatory requirements and departmental policies.
• Prepare parenteral medications and solutions including hazardous drugs.
• Fill medication floor stocks, IV solutions, and other meds by restocking Pyxis machines.
• Restock and rotate medications and supplies by end of shift.
• Complete unit and pharmacy-area inspections and ensure storage areas are clean and secure.
• Deliver medications throughout the hospital and to outlying areas serviced by inpatient pharmacy.
• Assist with onboarding and orientation of new team members.
• Assist pharmacy purchasing and support nurses with pharmacy-related issues.
• Complete assigned competency assessments.
• Take on additional responsibilities/projects as assigned.
