Job summary

Akron Children's is seeking a Part-Time Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacist with medication preparation and distribution. You will help fill orders and ensure deliveries reach the correct nursing units within the hospital.

Responsibilities include filling medication orders, preparing IV medications, stocking units, and assisting nurses with medication supply issues. A valid Ohio Pharmacy Technician certification and driving capability are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification: Registration as a 'Certified Ohio Pharmacy Technician' or 'Registered Pharmacy Technician' or similar; must obtain/convert within 12 months if not already certified.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Valid State driver's license and ability to be insured on hospital vehicle.
• Annual physical required with Employee Health Department.

Responsibilities

• Fills medication orders by reviewing the label and preparing the correct medication and quantity for the pharmacist to check.
• Refills patient medication carts with a 24-hour supply.
• Prepares oral syringes of patient medication.
• Prepares intravenous medication, including chemotherapy.
• Delivers medication to nursing units.
• Stocks medications in automated dispensing units.
• Repackages bulk medication into unit-of-use packages.
• Performs medication inspections and removes outdated stock.
• Answers the phone and assists nurses with medication supply issues.
• Transports medication to offsite locations using hospital vehicle.
• Must be able to work primary shift and any other shift at any location.
