Job summary

Advocate Health’s Illinois Masonic Medical Center - Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. You will label and stock medications, assist with procurement, and help with data entry for billing and records.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and acquire national certification within 18 months of starting. The position includes rotating day shifts with some 2nd shift and occasional overnight coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) or ExCPT within 18 months of start date.
• No work experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assists with medication distribution tasks.
• Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper telephone and voicemail etiquette.
• Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Complete documentation required for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances.
• Perform nonsterile compounding following USP standards; sterile IV admixture as applicable.
• Inspects storage areas for adherence to policies.
• Records patient demographics and data entry for record keeping and billing.
