Job summary

BJC Home Care seeks a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician to join the Home Infusion team as a full-time Pharmacy Tech 2. The role focuses on sterile compounding activities and supports dispensing, transporting, and medication preparation.

Supervision is provided by a staff pharmacist. The department coordinates with physicians, patients, and caregivers to enable home-based care, including 24-hour on-call services and education materials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• State Board Pharmacist Registration required.
• Pharmacy Tech Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in preparation of medication orders, workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports inventory activities, including storage, ordering, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
• Pursues proficiency in compounding sterile preparations and/or other advanced skills.

Overview

BJC Home Care offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. The Home Infusion Therapy Department of BJC Home Care Services works closely with physicians, patients and caregivers to enable patients to remain or return home while receiving intravenous medications. Our services include 24 hour on-call pharmacy and nursing services, comprehensive patient education materials, patient assessment and drug administration monitoring, and coordination of professional services including home care nursing and laboratory services.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 2, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, prepares medication orders, and assists in dispensing & transporting medications. This position also conducts sterile and/or non-sterile compounding, uses various automated/electronic systems and maintains the required documentation & records.
