Job summary

Memorial Hospital Belleville is seeking a patient-focused Pharmacy Technician to support medication preparation and distribution in a hospital setting, including IV compounding and Pyxis replenishment.

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will learn non-sterile and sterile compounding, manage documentation, and assist with daily operations to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. The role offers an entry-level pathway with training and potential for growth within the hospital.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• No experience.
• State Board Pharmacy Registration.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.

• Days (8- hour shifts starting between 6am-9am)
• 2-3 evening shifts per month
• Every third weekend
• Holiday rotation

Overview

Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician – Inpatient 1, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, assists in dispensing and transporting medications. This entry level position learns to conduct non-sterile and/or sterile compounding and is responsible for maintaining the required documentation & records.
