About the Role: Job SummaryThe pharmacy manager supervises and coordinates the daily operations of pharmaceutical services throughout the system. Services include, but are not limited to, the control and distribution of controlled substances, 24-hour medication cartfill and first dose dispensing, emergency medication trays/kits, automated dispensing cabinets, and sterile product compounding. Ascertains that staff members demonstrate a level of competence, professionalism, and customer service as defined and required by job descriptions and NGHS Organizational Core Competencies. This position may care for patients in all age groups.
Licensure or other certifications: Licensed by Georgia State Board of Pharmacy.
Educational Requirements: Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy.

Preferred Experience: Two (2) years experience as staff pharmacist.

Proficiency in written, communication and organizational skills
Computer literate with working knowledge of business applications
Working knowledge of the job responsibilities of all pharmacy associates
Proficiency in pharmacy-related computer systems, including but not limited to pharmacy and hospital information systems, pharmacy automation, emergency medication tray/kit software, automated dispensing cabinets, online drug information, and email
Possess basic understanding of USP-797 requirements and demonstrate proper aseptic technique for compounding sterile products
Strong financial knowledge including managing within defined budget (salaries, supplies, etc.)
Supervises the day to day operation of the department to assure that work is performed in accordance to specified standards. Ensures that pharmacy operations comply with all applicable state and federal regulations. Initiates, schedules, directs, and controls day-to-day operations of the department. Coordinates department activities with those of other departments. Coordinates with other management staff in establishing checks and quality controls to ensure quality of care.
Coordinates the maintenance of the controlled substance inventory and the destruction of controlled substances.
Coordinates recruitment and hiring process for pharmacy staff. Develops a training schedule for newly hired staff members' 90-day orientation period. Ensures orientation checklist for newly hired staff members is completed within 90 days of date of hire. Assists with the training of newly hired staff members
Develops bi-weekly pharmacy staff schedule. Ensures that requests for PDO are handled equitably and according to policy. Arranges coverage of workflow in the event of call-outs or other special circumstances, i.e. weather emergency, system downtime, or other unanticipated event. Ensures that all Human Resources and departmental policies regarding scheduling and PDO are followed.
Assists with development of budgets, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Pharmacy and/or Executive Director of Operations.
