Job summary

Spaulding Hospital - Boston and Cambridge is seeking a Pharmacist Intern for a per diem, onsite role at 1575 Cambridge Street. You will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, counsel patients on medications, and help optimize therapy through medication history and discharge planning.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a Pharmacist degree and holds a Massachusetts intern license, with 0-1 year pharmacy experience preferred. Flexible, rotating shifts are available.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma required.
• All applicants must be pursuing a Pharmacist degree.
• Licenses and Credentials: Pharmacist Intern Massachusetts License required.
• Experience: Pharmacy Experience 0-1 year preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to learn computer and application skills; Ability to interact with people; Ability to make judgments in demanding situations; Ability to adapt to changing duties and workload; Effective verbal and written communication; Empathy; Organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds.
• Works collaboratively with the treatment team to maximize patient outcomes.
• Performs medication history interviews, first-dose teaching, food-drug interaction counseling, discharge counseling, and assessments of patient education and medication adherence.
• Creates updated medication lists for patients upon discharge from a hospital stay or at the end of a clinic appointment.
• Counsels patients on prescription and over-the-counter medications and devices.
• Monitors medication therapies by performing profile reviews, interpreting laboratory values, and ensuring regimens align with guidelines and protocols.
