Job summary

UC Health is seeking a Pharmacy Intern (PRN) for the Inpatient Pharmacy Department at UC Medical Center. This role supports pharmacists and leadership in rounds, counseling, drug information, dosing, preparation, distribution, and administration under supervision.

Responsibilities include formulary support, education on new drugs, cost-saving analyses, and participation in committee activities. 0–6 months experience preferred; enrollment in a college of pharmacy required. Salary ranges hourly.

Qualifications

• Must be accepted to or enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current pharmacy intern registration that is recognized by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
• 0–6 months of equivalent experience required; 1–2 years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for formulary development and drug information resources.
• Maintain and update records for Drug Policy Development Committee actions.
• Develop New Drug Memos to educate staff on newly added formulary drugs.
• Update approved guidelines and formulary tools after DPD approval.
• Tabulate formulary changes with cost-savings impact for the system.
• Support drug information and education initiatives for staff and patients.
• Develop drug information responses on request and communicate alternatives during shortages.
• Assist in system-level communications for policy updates and procedural changes.
• Support quality improvement initiatives in formulary and operations.
• Assess medication use and compliance with the formulary and conduct medication use evaluations.
