Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Intern in Detroit, MI to work under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists. You will participate in the drug distribution system and clinical services for patients in your assigned area.

The role requires enrollment or graduation from a School/College of Pharmacy and a Michigan Pharmacy Intern license, with strong communication skills for interactions with patients and HFH staff.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled or a graduate from a school or college of Pharmacy.
• Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Intern by the Michigan Board of Pharmacy.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, physicians, nurses and HFH staff.

Responsibilities

• Dispenses unit dose, intravenous admixtures, and other pharmaceuticals for subsequent administration to patients
• Interprets physician medication orders and clarifies any unclear orders
• Identifies and monitors the pharmaceutical needs of patients
• Reviews patient charts and interviews the patient, physician, or nurse to obtain information for medication records and profiles
• Reviews drug related information to identify potential problems regarding drug therapy and recommends appropriate solutions to those problems
• Provides drug and poison information for patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals
