Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV, seeks a Pharmacy Generalist for Inpatient Adult Operations Float to support multiple service lines. The role offers variety across Perioperative Services, Sterile Products, Central Operations, and Chestnut Ridge Pharmacy.

The successful candidate will hold a Pharm.D., be licensed in WV, complete BLS within 60 days, and participate in ongoing education to strengthen medication safety and patient care in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must possess current pharmacist license as required by the state board where services will be provided (WV).
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review each order to verify accuracy and appropriateness.
• Dispense medications from the provider's order.
• Ensure policies and procedures related to drug distribution are followed.
• Responsible for drug use control in assigned service areas.
• Identify problems related to drug use and offer resolutions.
• Manage pharmaceutical services in assigned service area.
• Document medication errors and near misses.
• Promote medication safety initiatives and ISMP recommendations.
• Communicate findings and document in the clinical information system.
