Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking a Part-time Pharmacist to prepare, dispense, and supervise medications and IVs for patient use in a hospital setting. The role involves advising clinicians on drug interactions and administration, supervising staff, and ensuring accurate dosing and inventory control.

CT Pharmacist license and hospital experience are preferred; pay ranges reflect shift differentials and location. This is a part-time, per diem position within a major Catholic health system.

Qualifications

• BS Pharmacy degree required; PharmD preferred.
• CT Pharmacist license (if applicable).
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, dispense, and supervise preparation of all medications and IVs for patient use.
• Advise healthcare professionals on drug interactions and proper administration.
• Supervise non-pharmacist staff and ensure efficient workflow.
• Assess need for non-formulary items and work with physicians on substitutions.
• Verify orders for dosing, allergies, interactions, and monitor lab data.
• Maintain narcotics inventory and complete required forms.

Employment Details

Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: Position Purpose Ensures the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling, dispensing, and administration, in conjunction with state and federal regulations and departmental policies. Maintains proper records. Follows department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provides drug information as required and /or requested.

What You Will Do

• Prepare, dispense, and supervise the preparation of all medications and IVs for patient use in the hospital
• Advise other health care professionals on drug interactions, incompatibilities, side effects, and proper administration of medications
• Supervise non-pharmacist personnel by assigning duties, checking all orders, maintaining efficient workflow, and checking IVs and other medications prepared by technicians
• Assess need for non-formulary items ordered according to department policy, and initiates contact with prescribing physician for substitute
• Verify physicians’ orders for proper dose, regimen, allergies, potential drug-drug interactions/incompatibilities, adverse drug reactions and monitor lab data on all patients before dispensing medication
• Verify all narcotic orders are received, maintain perpetual inventory log, perform weekly C-II inventory and monthly controlled drug inventory and ensure all forms are completed and filed appropriately

Minimum Qualifications

• BS Pharmacy degree, Pharm D preferred CT Pharmacist license Hospital experience preferred

Position Highlights and Benefits

Per Diem We do pay shift and weekend differentials. Pay Range: $48.45-77.50 per hour. Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
