Qualifications

• Must hold a degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.

• Strong verbal and written communication to disseminate drug information to health care personnel.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates dispensing of unit dose, IV admixtures, investigational and research drugs.
• Identifies and monitors pharmaceutical needs of patients.
• Reviews patient charts and interviews patients, physicians, or nurses to obtain medication information.
• Verifies medication orders for completeness and safety.
• Supervises support staff on shift.
• Participates in teaching programs for students and residents.
• Provides drug information to patients and professionals.
• Conducts nursing unit reviews as assigned.
• Assists in performance evaluations of staff.
• Monitors patient responses to medications and provides dosing support.
