Job description

Position: Inpatient Palliative Care Physician
Location: Memorial Regional Medical Center, Mechanicsville, VA (Richmond Market)

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Inpatient Palliative Care Physician to join our well-established and expanding team at Memorial Regional Medical Center, a 225-bed facility in Mechanicsville, VA. This is an exciting opportunity to work within one of the most robust palliative care programs in the Richmond region, supported by an interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other healthcare professionals covering five hospitals and one outpatient practice. In this role, you will provide evidence-based inpatient consultations, improve patient care, and proactively enhance the experience for patients with acute, chronic, and progressive diseases. New graduates will benefit from mentorship under our experienced team members, making this an ideal opportunity for both seasoned professionals and those new to the field.

Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. Current call rotation is 1 week every 6 weeks.

Requirements:
  • MD or DO degree with current licensure to practice in Virginia.
  • Successful completion of an ACGME, AOA, or Canadian Royal College accredited residency in a primary medical specialty.
  • Active participation in or completion of the ABMS specialty board certification process (if applicable).
  • Completion of a 12-month ACGME-affiliated fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability in building referrals for Palliative Medicine.
