Job summary

The Nursing Assistant position is located in the Medical/Surgical Unit of the Sioux Falls VA Health Care System. You will provide nursing care to patients with geriatric and medical needs, including vital signs, daily living activities, specimen collection, and glucose monitoring.

Observe and document patient status, respond to emergencies, assist in patient transport, and support other team members. Shift work includes Sundays to Saturdays with day shifts and rotating holidays; federal benefits

Qualifications

• Completion of Nursing Assistant program or equivalent training.
• High school diploma or equivalent is acceptable.
• Nursing Assistant certification preferred or required per agency guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to geriatric, psychiatric, and medical patients.
• Administer vital signs, aid activities of daily living, collect specimens, monitor glucose.
• Observe and document patient condition; report changes promptly.
• Assist in emergencies and resuscitation as needed; support charting and patient safety.
• Mentor and orient other Nursing Assistants; ensure unit equipment is ready for use.
