Job summary

Astera Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the Inpatient Nursing (Med/Surg) team in Wadena, MN 56482 on a PRN basis. You will provide direct patient care on the Med/Surg floor under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Providers.

Essential duties include assisting with hygiene, feeding, vitals, mobility, and accurate documentation. You will help maintain supplies and follow safety protocols to support patient well‑being.

Qualifications

• Nurse’s Aide training or certification preferred.
• Maintain active BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily patient care: hygiene, feeding, mobility, and comfort under RN supervision.
• Monitor and document vitals, intake/output, and patient status; report changes to nursing staff.
• Prepare and maintain patient care supplies and equipment; ensure safety and infection control.

Inpatient Nursing Assistants are primarily responsible for providing direct patient care on the Med/Surg floor in coalition with the Registered Nurses and Providers, and are considered vital in our workflow processes as they directly care for our patients.This position is for a PRN/casual status in the inpatient unit.**Essential Duties:**1. Supports the mission of Astera Health through personal conduct and behaviors that contribute ideas and suggestions, is helpful and friendly, demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality, and adheres to organizational policies and rules.2. Be a role model of Astera Health culture and core values.3. Observes and reports patient data in an accurate and timely manner. Reports all unusual conditions or reactions to nurse in charge to assist with safe provision of care and documentation of care.4. Performs patient care activities and services necessary in safely caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients, i.e., answers call lights, bathes, assists with hygiene, serves trays, feeds, or assists with nourishment intake, ambulates, transports. Uses basic knowledge of age-related and development needs.5. Provides for the physical, social, psychological, and spiritual needs of the patient/family when implementing nursing care.6. Takes and records: vital signs, fluid intake and output, dietary intake, as directed. Assists with patient treatments such as enemas, specimen collection, turn and rub, incontinent care, ambulation.7. Maintains patient care supplies and performs assigned cleaning functions, as directed, to assist with access to patient care materials.8.
