Job summary

StarCare Specialty Health System is seeking a part-time Mental Health Specialist to support its Inpatient Hospital team. The MHS helps manage crises, guides patient care, and ensures safety for at-risk individuals.

Duties include facilitating activities, monitoring behavior, documenting observations, and coordinating with clinical staff. The role requires high school completion, preferred CNA or related experience, and compliance with background checks and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED).
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Certified Nurse’s Aide (CNA) certification preferred.
• Proficiency with standard office equipment.
• Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong interpersonal skills and compassion.
• Driver license preferred; government issued ID required.
• Must pass pre-employment and annual screenings as required.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through daily activities including meals, hygiene, and therapy sessions.
• Observe and report changes in patient mood, behavior, or condition to clinical staff.
• Complete hourly rounds to monitor safety and well-being.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment for patients and staff.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Submit timely, accurate documentation of patient interactions.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and doctors to ensure compassionate care.
• Maintain regular attendance for assigned hours.
• Ensure training and credentials meet regulatory and StarCare requirements.
• Assist with special projects and align work with organizational goals.
