Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking an experienced nursing support role for the Bipolar & Psychotic Inpatient Unit (AB2). The position involves assisting RNs with direct patient care, documentation, and milieu management in an inpatient psychiatric setting.

Night shift, onsite at 115 Mill Street, 32 scheduled hours per week, Regular employee type. The role requires a high school diploma, 1 year of clinical experience (psychiatric preferred), Epic training within 30 days, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
• Experience: One year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting; 1–2 years preferred; previous direct patient care experience preferred.
• Knowledge/Abilities: Verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in collaboration with others.
• Must complete and pass Epic training within 30 days of hire; 80%+ on Epic modules is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists the RN in providing direct patient care, including accurate and timely documentation of AFS, progress notes, and observation sheets.
• Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Participates in patient rounds or teams.
• Completes patient care assignments.
• Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to crisis and uses de-escalation techniques.
• Intervenes in managing complex patient situations and schedules, promoting least restrictive options.
• Communicates changes in patient status to the RN.
• Follows Standards of Care and unit protocols.
• Maintains patient safety and unit environment; assists with ADLs and nutrition as needed.
• Escorts and supervises patients on/off grounds; ensures safety.
• Maintains competency for treating age-specific populations.
• Seeks feedback and participates in critical incident debriefing.
