Job summary

Istss seeks an Intermittent Registered Nurse for the Mental Health Service Line at the VA Health Care System. The RN will provide direct patient care, participate in psychoeducational groups, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support safe, recovery‑oriented care.

Requirements include an active RN license, English proficiency, and ACEN/CCNE‑accredited nursing education or bridge program eligibility. Shifts may vary; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• English language proficiency required
• RN license required or eligible for temporary appointment
• Foreign nursing education requires degree equivalency validation

Responsibilities

• Attends, observes, and leads nurse-led psychoeducational groups; uses therapeutic communication and de-escalation techniques
• Participates in shift reports, interdisciplinary MH team rounds, and safety/environment of care duties
• Documents nursing assessments and plans of care; administers medications per policy; evaluates age-specific care
