Job summary
The Columbus Organization in Morganton, NC is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for 2nd and 3rd shifts in an inpatient mental health setting. The role emphasizes assessments, medication management, and crisis intervention to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This 16-week contract offers full benefits and a competitive hourly rate, with potential renewal upon successful completion of the contract and a schedule of 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM and 7:00 PM – 7:15
Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted RN license in NC.
- Bachelor's or higher in Nursing or equivalent degree.
- Proficient in nursing practice standards and patient care.
- Experience with psychiatric medications and monitoring.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking.
- Ability to stay calm in high‑pressure situations.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients on admission and during stay using standardized tools and clinical judgment.
- Administer psychiatric medications and monitor side effects and effectiveness.
- Deliver therapeutic interventions including individual and group sessions.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to develop care plans.
- Educate patients and families about conditions and treatments.
- Monitor safety, document progress, and report incidents as required.
- Respond to psychiatric crises and de-escalate as needed.
