Job summary

The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System - Medical Records Department is seeking a Certified Medical Records Coder - Inpatient to code complex inpatient records and ensure accurate DRG assignments in Riverside, CA.

Under general supervision, you will apply ICD-CM, PCS, and CPT coding guidelines, collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team, and support training for the Outpatient coder as needed. A CCS/CPC/RHIA/RHIT or CPC-H certification is required.

Qualifications

• Certification in CCS, CPC, RHIA/RHIT, or CPC-H as required.
• Experience with ICD-CM, PCS and CPT coding systems.
• Knowledge of DRG assignment and IPPS guidelines.
• Familiarity with clinical documentation improvement processes.

Responsibilities

• Code inpatient medical records using ICD-CM, PCS, and CPT.
• Abstract admissions data, procedures, and length of stay.
• Query physicians for accurate code identification and documentation.
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement Team on documentation issues.
• Assist in training outpatient coders as needed.
