Job summary

St. Mary’s Health Care System is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Physician to serve as Medical Director of its 19-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit in Athens, Georgia.

You will lead a collaborative, patient-centered program while maintaining a clinical practice. As Medical Director, you will provide leadership, oversight, and supervision for inpatient rehab, working with an interdisciplinary team to maximize functional outcomes and successful

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Georgia.
• Demonstrated commitment to inpatient rehabilitation care.
• Prior leadership or medical directorship experience preferred, but not required.
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

As Medical Director, you will provide leadership and oversight for the inpatient rehabilitation program, working closely with an interdisciplinary team committed to helping patients regain function, independence, and quality of life following injury, illness, or surgery.

About the Rehabilitation Unit

The St. Mary's Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit provides comprehensive rehabilitation services for patients recovering from:

• Stroke and neurological disorders

• Brain injury

• Spinal cord injury

• Orthopedic conditions and joint replacement recovery

• Debility and complex medical conditions

• Amputation and mobility impairments

The unit focuses on intensive, individualized rehabilitation programs designed to maximize functional outcomes and facilitate successful transitions back to home and community settings.
