Job summary

Medasource is partnering with a leading health system to hire an experienced Inpatient Medical Coder for a fully remote contract opportunity. This role supports a high-acuity, multi-specialty environment and is ideal for coders with strong inpatient experience.

Ideal candidates hold CCS certification (or RHIT/RHIA) with at least three years of inpatient coding background, and are proficient with Epic EHR and 3M encoder in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of inpatient coding experience.
• Strong multi-specialty inpatient coding background.
• Experience working within an academic medical center or trauma facility preferred.
• CCS certification preferred; RHIT or RHIA credentials will also be considered.
• Proficiency with Epic EHR.
• Experience using the 3M encoder.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties, including Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical cases, Transplants, NICU and other complex inpatient cases.
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards.
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate inpatient coding across a wide range of specialties, including: Cardiology, Neurology, Surgical cases, Transplants, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Additional complex inpatient cases
• Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and industry standards
• Maintain timely and accurate coding in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
• Consistently meet established productivity and quality expectations

• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred; RHIT or RHIA credentials will also be considered
