Job summary

The Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) will work in the Med/Surg Unit at the Des Moines - Iowa VA. This RN will be responsible for providing competent - evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants.

This RN will assist in directing the provision of nursing education - orientation - competencies and providing quality improvement. The RN will support education efforts, orientation, and competency development while contributing to quality

Qualifications

• English language proficiency as required by VA Handbook 5005 - Appendix G6
• Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by accrediting bodies (ACEN/CCNE)
• State licensure upon completion of nursing education program or bridge program
• Possible temporary appointment as GNT while pursuing licensure
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted nursing license in US jurisdictions

Responsibilities

• Provide competent, evidence-based nursing care in the Med/Surg Unit
• Oversee nursing staff including LVNs/CNAs and participate in nursing education/orientation/competency
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to VA standards
